This morning I woke up and I was inspired
So I sat down and wrote you a book
But without you to read it, it’s just a pile of pages
And a waste of the time that it took

I would swim ‘cross the ocean, I’d run fifty miles
If that would bring me any closer to you

Yesterday I came across your picture
In a box on a shelf downstairs
And the heartbreak that I’d woken up with that morning
Your smile somehow repaired

And all the while I was going about my business
My heart was writing songs to you

I realize the distance between us isn’t easy
And if I could change it I would
I’d build us a house way out in the country
And take you there if I could
